You may have thought;

You may have thought
I had forgotten the memories
That I was far too young
To remember
That I was only
A child.

But, you are wrong
I remember the intricate details
Like the back of my hand.
Granted, I may not have remembered
Everything
But what I do remember
Is etched deep in the synapses
Of my brain.

There were memories that were good
And then the ones that were bad
That terrified me
And made my cringe from you.

Some things are best left buried
Deep in my chest
But those are the things
That may have made me stronger
And the person who I am today.
