and you were there, beside me.
we held hands as we walked
along a deserted path
in the park.
we wandered aimlessly
for what seemed like hours
though, it may have been
merely minutes.
there was a lake
to which we drew near
seeing the calm water
absent of ripples.
and then, you were gone.
where did you go?
were you a figment of my imagination
just a dream, a coveted desire.
unfulfilled you left me
haunted
by the brief memories.
